ACCURO Q2 2023 PROJECT UPDATES

It has been a busy 2nd quarter of the year with good news coming from all projects. There have certainly been some challenges, but we are on time and budget with our construction projects, whilst our programs continue to grow in both size and scope.

Media coverage of our work, particularly in Nepal, is on the up, spreading word of our progress throughout the countries that we work.

Below is a round up of all active projects and programmes for the quarter.

THE LOVE SCHOOL, MAE SOT, THAILAND

The Love School in Mae Sot, Thailand, has been successfully completed and is now fully operational.

Project Overview:

Name: The Love School
Location: Mae Sot, Thailand
Purpose: To provide a safe and fun learning environment for hundreds of children from the local community.
Timeline: The construction project was completed on time.
Budget: The project was completed within the allocated budget.
Building Description: The Love School is a bright, airy, and safe structure, designed to accommodate the educational needs of children for many years to come.

TIMELAPSE OF BUILD

Construction Details:

Local Materials: The construction primarily utilized locally made bricks, promoting sustainability and supporting the local economy.

Metal Work: The metal work for the building was carried out by an alumnus of a similar Burmese migrant school in the region.

The individual is now successfully running a metalwork and engineering business, contributing to the growth of the local economy and demonstrating the impact of education on personal development in the migrant community.

OPENING DAY!

Inauguration and Opening Day:

The opening day of The Love School was a really fun day, the entire community came together to celebrate the completion of the project and to witness the new chapter in the lives of the children. The kids and the community are delighted with the building.

Impact on the Community:

The completion of The Love School has had a positive impact on the local community in several ways:

Education Access: The school provides access to quality education for hundreds of children who might not have had such opportunities before.

Empowerment: The involvement of an alumnus in the construction process has inspired the community and demonstrated the potential for success through education and skill development.

Community Cohesion: The school has become a focal point for the community, fostering a sense of togetherness and pride.

Conclusion:

The Love School project in Mae Sot, Thailand, has been a great success. By providing a bright, airy, and safe space for children to learn and grow, the school is making a significant contribution to the local community.

The use of locally sourced materials and engaging an alumnus in the construction process further emphasises the school's commitment to sustainability and fostering local talent.

As The Love School continues to serve as an educational hub for generations to come, we hope to witness the positive long-term effects it will have on the lives of the children and the entire community in Mae Sot.

THE FINISHED SCHOOL:

GIRLS’ EMPOWERMENT CENTRE, NEPAL

THE COMMUNITY INSPECTS THE BUILD

Our Girls' Empowerment Centre in rural Nepal is on time and on budget.

The building has really taken shape and the community, media and of course the girls are all very excited about the project.

The exterior is very nearly complete, we have just installed septic tanks and reserve tanks and we now move into a phase of installing windows and doors and electricity.

There are a number of long Nepali holidays ahead this month so we expect a slow down in construction, but this is planned for.

In terms of funding; we were let down earlier this year by a donor and left us with a deficit of 100K EUR, we have manged to raise funds that reduce this to 30K and we have had the good fortune of a London PR firm coming on pro-bono to help us raise the last 30K by way of social media and email "marketing" so we remain confident in bridging this gap.

The girls are very much looking forward to playing a part in the decoration and painting phase of the project!

This project, once complete will play an integral part in the growth and reach of our Girls’ Empowerment Program.

All being well we plan to complete the building by December 2023.

THE BUILDING AS OF 22/07/2023

STICKING CLOSELY TO ORIGINAL DESIGN

ECO LEARNING CENTRE, PERU.

The project is making great progress and all the required materials are on site whilst the construction of buildings is well underway.

It's fantastic to see the entire area taking shape and the kids and community taking such a keen interest and helping out where they can.

We are on time and slightly below budget which will see us through any unforeseen circumstances towards the end of the build.

The combined efforts of everyone involved are truly making a difference, and we're excited about the benefits this eco-learning centre will bring to The Sacred Valley.

More updates to follow this month.

CHILD NUTRITION

We are now well into the 2nd 2 year phase of our nutrition program, as well as new initiatives we continue to feed thousands of school children a daily midday meal, something they otherwise would never receive and often go hungry or not attend school at all. We look forward to reporting back as this new stage develops.

Whilst we move forward with the new phase we have put together a round-up of the last 2 year phase of our nutrition program in rural Nepal, it has been a great succsess with a great deal of community support:

GIRLS’ EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM, NEPAL

Our Girls' Empowerment Program continues to go from strength to strength. This quarter has seen the addition of business and entrepreneurship studies, thanks to the generosity of a very successful blue chip company staff trainer giving her time online.

MONTHLY HIGHLITE EXAMPLE FROM JUNE

The girls have been having one on one sessions online and working on understanding their ambitions and goals and plans for achieving these.

ONLINE BUSINESS TRAINING

It is early days, but the girls are very excited, we have started with a core group of 16 - 20 girls, but we hope to roll this out to a much larger group in the year ahead.

In other good news; 2 of the girls from the program have reached national levels in football, a sport that girls simply did not play prior to the team and league we set up in this area, in the video below Regina and friends explain this achievement.

Some of the girls have also made huge strides forward in the art of Taekwondo and kick boxing, again sports that girls would never have taken part in prior to our program.

We are well into our 6th year of this incredibly beneficial and successful program and we are all very excited to see where this leads with the addition on the Girls’ Empowerment Centre completing this year.

This year we formally employed two of the young women from the very first year of our program, they have been with us since the beggining and now have full time jobs working for the Girls Empowerment Program (GEP).

These girls statistically would of never had a job or career and it is highly likely they would have been married at a very young age were it not for participation in the GEP.

It’s fantastic to see the girls come through in this way and a real inspiration for the younger girls in the program.

UPDATE FROM REGINA

VIDEOS FROM THE GROUND

The girl have made a huge effort to be part of the reporting structure this quarter, all videos below are edited and created by the girls themselves. This is a big and bold step forward and they are incredibly excited to know that their work is being viewed all the way over in Switzerland!

We plan to continue with the girls participation in reporting, not only for these quarterly reports but also day to day life.

WITH MANY THANKS AS ALWAYS
