A three story child development centre for the most vulnerable children from the old waste picker community area of CDO.
This centre will provide much needed space not only for the 52 young women of our children’s village in CDO but also for 750 children from the community in which we work. The centre will be focused on counselling, rehabilitation and vocational training.
Kids in need of psycho-social services such as counselling, trauma-/psychotherapy will be treated at the centre, children with all kinds of needs ranging from social, educational, medical and legal/paralegal needs will seek assistance at the centre.
In the centre workshops and conferences regarding child protection will be facilitated and volunteers and guests, serving the cause for the children will be staying there.
We will have a dedicated area for the already existing multipurpose cooperative including such services as coffee shop, grocery store, bakery and beauty parlour which will help to alleviate the reliance of foreign funds and support sustainability.
Two hundred meters away Xavier University is going to build its new college of Agriculture and just behind our proposes building the areas largest land development company is building a new middle class subdivision of homes and apartments. Both of these developments will provide considerable custom for the cooperative.
